Środa Śląska Regional Museum organizes competitions for children and youth; thematic (ones show creative imagination) and literary. Some of them are one-off competitions (for instance a competition for the best pottery made using traditional techniques, which was held during the Days of Środa Śląska) whereas some are periodic.in which participants have to demonstrate their knowledge), plastic (ones in which participants have to).

Annual competitions
“The charms of my town” a plastic competition with a long tradition. The theme of the competition  is the architecture of Środa Śląska, its sights, its history and inhabitants or events taking place there. The competition is addressed  to school children in Środa Śląska commune attending common rooms, nursery schools, primary schools and secondary schools but others are also welcome.

“The charms of my hometown”  a plastic competition for children and youth in Środa  Śląska County whose theme is the places they live in.

“The historic buildings of our county” a plastic, a literary, a photographic and a film competition. Its theme are historic buildings, ethnographic, technical and natural relics in the county. The  competition can be entered by the children and youth living in Środa Śląska County. The competition’s objective is to create a project on one of the monuments (or something not discovered so far)via observation, and accumulating as many pieces of information as possible.

Cultural events
Środa Śląska Regional Museum, apart from its statutory functions, organizes cultural and educational events promoting history of the town and the region., the customs and culture.
The events take form of author’s meeting,  musical, theatrical, cabaret performances, poetry readings and fairs. The most popular are the meetings on the courtyard.

The meetings on the courtyard
There is a small courtyard inside the town hall buildings. It is most beautiful and loveliest in the spring and summer, when flowers come out. At that time of the year evening meetings on the courtyard are organized together with the Cultural Centre.

Author’s meetings
 So far we have hosted a poet  Marianna Bocian, a painter Jerzy Kapłański, and with the authors of “Atlas Historyczny Środy Śląskiej” Rafał Eysymont and Mateusz Goliński.

Fairs
Artistic fair – organized within the Days of Środa Śląska on the first Sunday in June. It aims at presenting and selling artworks and craftworks.

Artistic Easter fair – organized annually on Saturday and Sunday two weeks before Palm Sunday. Folk artists and artistic craftsman from the region are invited to take part in the fair. Easter eggs, Easter palms, Easter lambs,  Easter hens, Easter cakes, Easter Egg Wreaths and all sorts of Easter decorations are sold there.
